Narrative:

     Mary Emma Shurtz was born on 2 Jul 1854 in Turbotville, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania.7,8,9 She appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Lewis Twp., Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of her parents, Frederick J. Shurtz and Margaret Ann Derr.14
     She moved to St. Joseph Co., Michigan, about 1864 with her parents.15
     Her mother died on 18 Sep 1865, when Mary was 11 years old.16,17 Mary appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Centerville, St. Joseph Co., Michigan, in the household of her father and stepmother, Sarah Elizabeth Riegel.18
     Mary apparently returned to Pennsylvania before 1880, though she has not been located in the 1880 census either in Iowa or Pennsylvania.
     Mary married Rev. Zwingli A. Yearick, son of Rev. William R. Yearick and Susan Hackenburg, on 20 Sep 1881.10,11,12 Since there is no evidence that her husband every left Pennsylvania, it would seem they were married in that state, though no record has been located.
     Mary and Zwingli appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Shenandoah, Schuylkill Co., Pennsylvania, at 108 North Jardin St., enumerated 4 Jun 1900, reporting that they rented their home. Their children William, Bertha, Clara, Emma, Mary, Ruth and Susan were listed as living with them.19
     Mary and Zwingli appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Shenandoah, Schuylkill Co., Pennsylvania, at 108 North Jardin St., enumerated 19 Apr 1910, reporting that they were living in a parsonage. Their children William, Bertha, Clara, Emma, Mary, Ruth and Susan were listed as living with them.20
     Mary and Zwingli appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Bethlehem, Lehigh Co., Pennsylvania, at 520 West Market St., enumerated 17 Jan 1920, reporting that they owned their home. Their children Mary, Ruth and Susan were listed as living with them.21
     Mary and Zwingli appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Bethlehem, Lehigh Co., Pennsylvania, at 520 West Market St., enumerated 9 Apr 1930, reporting that they owned a home valued at $8,000 and owned a radio. Their children Clara and Mary were listed as living with them.22
     Mary died on 21 Sep 1935 in Bethlehem, Lehigh Co., Pennsylvania, at age 81.13 She was buried on 24 Sep 1935 in Memorial Park.5
