Narrative:

     Thomas Jefferson Macgowan was born in Feb 1859 in Tennessee.7,8,9
     He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Shelby Co., Tennessee, in the household of his parents, Evander L. MacGowan and Mary Jane Burrow.16 He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Shelby Co., Tennessee, in the household of his parents.17 He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Shelby Co., Tennessee, in the household of his parents.18
     Thomas married Narcissa Tuck, daughter of Adam Paul Tuck and Emma Williams, on 10 Mar 1897 in Shelby Co., Tennessee, with Rev. Alonzo Monk officiating.10,11,12
     He was a clerk for Van Vleet-Mansfield Drug Co. by 1900. By 1902 he was a bookkeeper for that firm, continuing in that postion until about 1913.19,20,21
     Thomas and Narcissa appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Memphis, Shelby Co., Tennessee, at 367 Lauderdale St., enumerated 1 Jun 1900, reporting that they were renting their home.22
     Thomas and Narcissa appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Memphis, Shelby Co., Tennessee, at 1350 Court Ave., enumerated 26 Apr 1910, apparently sharing the home with the owners, Arthur and Fannie Kearney.23
     He started working as a bookkeeper for the Department of Accounts, Finance, and Revenues, presumably for the city of Memphis, about 1914. He continued working there until at least 1920.24,25
     Thomas and Narcissa appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Memphis, Shelby Co., Tennessee, at 1763 Overton Park Ave., enumerated 17 Jan 1920, boarding with Luther and Stella Kerr and their three children.26
     He was working as an accountant for Bret F. Jones, Tax Counselor and Auditor, by 1924.27,28
     Thomas died on 25 May 1925 in 226 N Ashland, Memphis, Shelby Co., Tennessee, at age 66, at his home.4 He was buried on 26 May 1925 in Elmwood Cemetery, Memphis, Shelby Co., Tennessee, in the lot of his wife's aunt, Sarah, and her husband, Quintus Atkinson.13,14,15
