He was promoted to corporal 6 Jul 1917.18 Elements of the 1st, 5th, and 6th Infantry formed the 147th Infantry 2 Oct 1917, and Stanley's company became Company H, 147th Infantry. He was transferred to Company D, 5 Jan 1918, with a rank of private.19,20
