     Freda Schmidgall was born on 27 Sep 1912 in Morton, Illinois.10,11,12,13 Freda and her brother Fred were twins.21
     She appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Morton Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, in the household of her parents, John F. Schmidgall and Lena P. Messer.4 She appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Morton, Tazewell Co., Illinois, in the household of her parents.5
     Freda married first Edward Louis Oetzel Jr, son of Edward Louis Oetzel and Mayme Louise Mooberry.14
     Freda and Edward appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Morton, Tazewell Co., Illinois, enumerated 15 Apr 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $3,500, and that they had lived in the same town in 1935.14
     Freda moved to Astoria, Oregon, by the time of her father's death, in 1945.6
     Freda and Edward were divorced before 1947 apparently, as she remarried in 1947 and he did in 1950.15,16,17
     Freda married second Kenneth Johnson on 18 Apr 1947 in Seattle, King Co., Washington, with Raymond M. Nierson, justice of the peace, officiating.16,18,19
     Freda moved to Hawaii with her 20-month-old daughter, presumably to join her husband who had already been stationed there. They traveled on the U.S.S. General J. C. Breckinridge, a Navy troopship with with special facilities for military dependents. They were in cabin class, arriving in Honolulu 28 Jun 1949. Their destination was shown as Hickman Field.22,23
