     James W. Flavin was born about 4 Dec 1852 in Bellows Falls, Vermont.7,8,9,10
     His father died on 9 Apr 1860, when James was about 7 years old.17
     James appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Rockingham, Windham Co., Vermont, in the household of his mother, Mary Stack.18
     James married Flora A. Remington, daughter of John Henry Remington and Annis Baker Clark, on 12 Mar 1874 in Rutland, Vermont, with Rev. J. G. Johnson officiating.2,11,12
     He was a railroad conductor in 1880.19
     James and Flora moved to Massachusetts by 1880. They appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of North Adams, Berkshire Co., Massachusetts, on Holden Street, enumerated 17 Jun 1880.20
     James and Flora moved to Ohio about 1882.
     James joined the Cleveland police force 28 Dec 1882, as a patrolman.21,22
     James died on 16 May 1893, at his home, 287 Bridge St., Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio.13,14,15 He was buried in Hillside Cemetery, Castleton, Rutland Co., Vermont.16
