Narrative:

Leta E. Reigle was born on 23 Aug 1895 in Kansas.8,9,10
The earliest record found for her, the 1900 census, shows her name as Yletta. That may have been her name given at birth, but all other records show her first name as Lettie or Leta.20
She appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Sumner Twp., Phillips Co., Kansas, in the household of her parents, William David Riegel and Mary J. Quakenbush.4
She moved to Missouri with her parents.21,22 She appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Hazelwood Twp., Webster Co., Missouri, in the household of her parents.5
Leta moved to Crane, Missouri, by 1916 when she as listed as a teacher in a Sunday School rally.23 She moved to California by 1924.24
She was a graduate nurse, living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, when she married.25,26
Leta married Clyde Carey Crecelius, son of Isaac B. Crecelius and Anna E. Forbes, on 15 Jan 1926 in Oakland, Alameda Co., California, with Edward J. Tyrrell, justice of the peace, officiating.11,12,13
Leta and Clyde appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of San Jose, Santa Clara Co., California, at 260 South 13rd, enumerated 14 Apr 1930, listed as roomers in the household of Andrew D. Johnson and his wife, with six other roomers, all single or divorced. Their son James was listed as living with them.27
Leta and Clyde appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Oakland, Alameda Co., California at the rear of 1735 16th Ave., enumerated 2 Apr 1940, reporting they rented their home, for $18 per month, and that they had lived in the same house in 1935. Their son James was listed as living with them, as was a lodger, Robert S. Williams, a service station manager.28
Leta and Clyde were Abernathy separated by 1942, when he was living at York, Pennsylvania, and reporting the "person who will always know your address" as Sister Rosana Superior at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore.29
Leta and Clyde were apparently divorced by 1950, as he appeared in the 1950 census with another woman listed as his wife. No record of a divorce, or of his remarriage, have been found. Her obituary lists him as her husband and his sister as her sister-in-law, and shows the sister's address as the "family home" even though Leta was listed as living elsewhere. But she is listed as widowed in the 1950 census, which is not uncommon for divorced people.14,15,16
Leta appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Oakland, Alameda Co., California, at 651 63rd, enumerated 5 Apr 1950, reporting she lived in a home that was not on a farm.30
Leta was struck by an automobile while she was crossing the Foothill Blvd. at Ninth Ave., in Oakland. Her body was tossed some 70 feet and struck a parked car. She was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. The driver of the car was arrested for investigation of manslaughter.31
Leta died on 7 Oct 1950 in Oakland, Alameda Co., California, at age 55.17,18,19
