He moved to Chicago with his parents in Sep 1877.21,22,23 He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois,

He was a clerk in 1880, and held the same position as late as 1885.24,25
He moved to 4 Burton Place St.


He opened a boots and shoes business about 1887, at 1600 W. Madison St.

He moved to 213 Schiller St.

By 1891 he was working for J. J. Regan & Co., a shoe company.29
