Violetta Marie Imel was born on 12 Feb 1894 in Missouri.9,10,11She appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., Missouri, in the household of her parents, Elmer Lawrence Imel and Catharine Parsels.4 She appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., Missouri, in the household of her parents.5
She worked as a stenographer for her uncle John F. Imel in 1913 and 1914, while he was judge of the probate court. By 1918 she was a bookkeeper at Tootle-Campbell Dry Goods Company, where her father also worked.17
Violetta married Samuel Benjamin Thomas, son of John Franklin Thomas and Sarah Elizabeth McAlexander, on 20 Aug 1919 in St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., Missouri, with Rev. Arthur J. McClung officiating.3,12,13
