Narrative:

     Robert A. Mansfield was born on 21 Jul 1832 in Kentucky.5,6
     He was probably the male age 5 to 10 listed in the household of his father, Rev. James Wilkerson Mansfield, in the 1840 Federal Census of Caldwell Co., Kentucky.10
     Robert married Aurelia J. Hallick, daughter of John Hallick and Hannah Chittenden Cobb, on 7 Dec 1857 in Caldwell Co., Kentucky.7,8
     Robert and Aurelia appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Fredonia, Caldwell Co., Kentucky, enumerated 10 Aug 1860, reporting real estate valued at $7,625 and person estate of $7,200. Their daughter Elenora was listed as living with them.2
     Robert registered for the draft for the Civil War, appearing on the register dated in Jun 1863, while living in Caldwell Co., Kentucky, reporting he was employed as a farmer.11
     Robert and Aurelia appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Walnut Grove, Caldwell Co., Kentucky, enumerated 8 Aug 1870, reporting real estate valued at $3,000 and personal estate of $1,200. Their children Elenora, Arthur, Carrie, Walter, Sydney, William and Jennie were listed as living with them, as were two farm laborers, Green Baker, age 15, and Jesse Jenkins, age 18.3
     Robert received a distribution of $40 from the estate of his wife's uncle, Gideon Dyer Cobb Jr., as reported in the settlement report for the estate, which was filed 17 Nov 1873.12
     Robert and Aurelia moved their family to Texas before 1880. They appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Dallas Co., Texas, enumerated 1 Jun 1880. Their children Elenora, Arthur, Carrie, Walter, Sydney, William, Jennie and Minnie were listed as living with them.13
     He was a farmer in Kentucky, and identified himself as a market gardener after moving to Texas.14,15,16 In the 1880 census he reported owning 13 acres of tilled land valued at $3,000, tools and implements worth $200, and $260 worth of livestock. He reported one horse, 2 mules, one milch cow and two other cows which had produced 60 lb. of butter the prior year, and a total value of all products of $1,000.17
     Robert died on 24 Sep 1885 at age 53.5 He was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.9
