Narrative:
Enoch Reed was born about 1782 in New York.6,7Enoch married Abiah Cobb, daughter of Capt. Joshua Cobb and Hannah Edgerton, on 5 Dec 1805 in Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont, with Rev. John Griswold officiating.1,8,9 After their marriage, Enoch and Abiah moved to Moriah, in Essex Co., New York, just across the state line from Vermont.10 (See map.) He appeared on the 1820 Federal Census of Moriah, Essex Co., New York, with a household consisting of two males under age 10, one age 10 to 15, and one age 26 to 45 (Enoch), two females under age 10, one age 10 to 15, one age 26 to 45 (wife Abiah), and two over age 45.11
Enoch appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Moriah, Essex Co., New York, with a household consisting of one male age 5 to 10, one age 10 to 15, on age 15 to 20, one age 20 to 30, and one age 40 to 50 (Enoch), one female under age 5, two age 5 to 10, one age 10 to 15, one age 15 to 20, and one aged 40 to 50 (wife Abiah.)12
He appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Moriah, Essex Co., New York, with a household consisting of one male age 15 to 20, one age 20 to 30, and one age 50 to 60 (Enoch), one female age 5 to 10, one age 10 to 15, one age 15 to 20, one age 30 to 40, and one aged 50 to 60 (wife Abiah.)13
Enoch and Abiah appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Moriah, Essex Co., New York, enumerated 24 Jul 1850. Listed with them are James, age 31, Rhoda, age 22, Almira, age 44, and Emerette, age 16, all with surname Reed, but their relationship is unknown.3
He was a farmer.14,15
Enoch died in 1860 in Wisconsin.2
