Narrative:

     Polly Cobb was born on 3 May 1787 in Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont.5,6 She was probably one of the five females listed in the household of her father, Capt. Joshua Cobb, in the 1790 Federal Census of Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont.10 She was probably one of the three females age 10 to 15 listed in the household of her father in the 1800 Federal Census of Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont.11
     Polly and Grove moved to Oneida Co., in central New York, after their marriage. Her sister, and his brother, Abigail and William, also moved there, although it is not clear whether they moved at the same time or if one followed the other.12 She married Grove Stoddard, son of Jonathan Stoddard and Mary Wright, on 26 May 1805 in Pawlet, Vermont. His brother William married her sister Abigail.7,8,9 (See map.) Polly was probably the female age 16 to 26 listed in the household of her husband, Grove Stoddard, in the 1810 Federal Census of Oneida Co., New York.13 She was probably the female age 26 to 45 listed in the household of her husband in the 1820 Federal Census of Vernon, Oneida Co., New York.14 She was probably the female age 40 to 50 listed in the household of her husband in the 1830 Federal Census of Vernon, Oneida Co., New York.15
     Polly and Grove had moved to Lenox, Madison Co., the next county south of Oneida, by 1850.16 Polly and Grove appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Lenox, Madison Co., New York, enumerated 2 Aug 1850, reporting real estate valued at $2,500. Their children John and Hellen were listed as living with them, as were a gardener and five carpenters, and a woman and 3-year-old girl who appear to be the wife and daughter of one of the carpenters.17 They were apparently living quite near her brother Simeon and his family, as they appear only three households away on the census record.18
     Polly and Grove appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Lenox, Madison Co., New York, enumerated 5 Jul 1860, reporting real estate valued at $2,500 and personal estate of $1,200.19
     Polly appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Lenox, Madison Co., New York, in the household of Simeon Kenyon and Hellen M. Stoddard, her daughter and her husband.20
     Polly died on 23 Aug 1876 in Oneida, New York, at age 89.2
