     Emma Herfurt was born about 1876 in Königreich Sachsen.5,6,7,8
     She arrived in New York with her parents, Heinrich Wilhelm Herfurt and Christana [surname unknown], on 23 Mar 1881, on the steamship Weser, having departed from the port of Bremen. They were shown on the passenger list as from Saxony, with a stated destination of St. Louis, and having traveled in steerage. His sister, Sophie, and her husband and their children traveled with them.12
     Emma was left with a doctor's family in Afton when her father moved the rest of the family west after her mother died. Apparently she was to act as a nanny to the doctor's children in exchange for her room and board.13
     Emma married Henry Todebusch about 1902.9,10,11
     Emma and Henry appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Carondelet Twp., St. Louis Co., Missouri, enumerated 16 Apr 1910, reporting that the family owned its farm. Their children Amelia, Henry and Hilda were listed as living with them.14
