     James G. Clark was born about 1800 in Virginia.4,5
     James married Mary Willard Cobb, daughter of Gideon Dyer Cobb and Modena Chittenden Clark, on 10 Sep 1829 in Eddyville, Caldwell Co., Kentucky.6,7,8,9
     James appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Eddyville, Caldwell Co., Kentucky, with a household consisting of one white male under age 5 (probably an unknown son), one age 20 to 30 (himself), one white female 20 to 30 (wife Mary Willard Cobb) and one female slave.11
     James sold lot no. 29, on Second St.. In Eddyville to his wife's brother, Dr. Joshua Cobb, on 27 Nov 1836, for $200.12
     James appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Caldwell Co., Kentucky, with a household consisting of one white male under age 5 (unknown), one between 5 and 10 (unknown), one between 10 and 15 (unknown), one between 20 and 30 (perhaps a farm hand), and one between 30 and 40 (himself), one female between 5 and 10 (daughter Elizabeth), one between 20 and 30 (perhaps a servant), and one between 30 and 40 (wife Mary), and one female slave.2
     James and Mary appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Caldwell Co., Kentucky, enumerated 2 Oct 1850, reporting real estate valued at $1,000. Their children Elizabeth, Modena, Henry and Giles were listed as living with them.13
     Mary and James sold lot no. 51 in Eddyville to her brothers Gideon and Robert on 20 Apr 1857, for $1,000.14
     James and Mary appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Dycusburg, Crittenden Co., Kentucky, in the household of Gideon Dyer Cobb Jr., her brother, with their four children, Modena, Henry, Giles and Elizabeth, as well as Ruben and Belle Shannon, who appear to have been Elizabeth's children.15,16 James also appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Eddyville, Lyon Co., Kentucky, enumerated 13 Aug 1860, apparently boarding with Nicholas Bradwell and his family, along with five other men.17
     He was a physician18,19,20, but was blind by 1860.21,22
     James died before 1878.10
