     Gerhardt and Louisa adopted an unknown person when she was an infant.19 He was born on 24 Nov 1914 in Cincinnati, Ohio.10,11,12
     He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, in the household of his parents, Fredrich Henrich Wilhelm Fenker and Louisa Wilhelmina Ruscher.4 He appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, in the household of his parents.5 He appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, in the household of his parents.20
     He was a newsboy on a paper route in 1930, and a carpenter by 1940, when he reported he had worked 45 hours the last week of March, and 34 weeks the prior year, earning $780 in 1930.21,22 He registered for the draft for World War II on 16 Oct 1940, while living at 3316 Alamo Ave., Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, reporting he was employed by Carl Oeverman, in Cincinnati.2
     Gerhardt married Edith Helma Schaefer, daughter of Paul Schaefer and Katherine H. Maurer, on 27 Sep 1941 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Madisonville, Hamilton Co., Ohio, with Rev. Walter Littmann officiating.13,14
     His wife died on 12 Nov 1999 in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio.23,24,25
