Narrative:

Abraham Clemens was born on 6 Apr 1816 in Lower Augusta Twp., Pennsylvania.5,6,7
His father died in 1817, when Abraham was about one year old.4
He was probably one of the two males age 20 to 30 listed in the household of his mother, Sophia Kramer, in the 1840 Federal Census of Augusta Twp., Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania.17
Abraham married Lucy Ann Heilman, daughter of Daniel Heilman and Gertrant Diehl, about 1841.8,9,10
Abraham and Lucy appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Lower Augusta Twp., Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 30 Sep 1850, reporting no real estate. Their children Peter, Sophia, Christiana, Daniel, Maria, John and Samuel were listed as living with them, as was 9-year-old Jacob Clemens, relationship unknown. He does not appear to have been their son Jacob who reportedly died as an infant both because of his age and the fact that he was listed after all their other children.1
Abraham and Lucy moved to Upper Augusta Twp. before 1860. They are also reported to have lived in Milton and Mooresburg after they left Lower Augusta, but whether that was before or after they lived in Upper Augusta is unclear.18 They appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Upper Augusta Twp. enumerated 25 Jun 1860, reporting no real estate but personal estate of $900. Their children Sophia, Christiana, Daniel, Maria, John, Samuel, Abraham, Jane, Jeremiah, Hannah and Catharine were listed as living with them.19
Abraham and Lucy moved to Montour Co., over 100 miles south on the Pennsylvania - Maryland line, before 1870. They appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Liberty Twp., Montour Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 14 Jul 1870, reporting no real estate but personal estate of $1,700. Their children Abraham, Jane, Jeremiah, Hannah and Catharine were listed as living with them, as was their adopted son, Joseph Williams.20
His wife died on 10 Nov 1879.21,22
Abraham appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Liberty Twp., Montour Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 22 Jun 1880. His children Jeremiah and Catharine were listed as living with him, as was his adopted son, Joseph Williams. His daughter Maria, her husband, and their three children were listed as living in the same building.23
He was a farmer, at times working at milling and tanning as well.24,25,26,27,28
Abraham married second Christiana Ohl, daughter of John Ohl and Margaret [surname unknown], between Jun 1880 and 1883.11,12,13
Abraham bought two acres in Delaware Twp., from Christiana's long-time neighbors, Jacob Derr and his wife, on 1 Apr 1882, for $375. On 20 Aug 1883 he sold that parcel to Christiana for the same amount.29,30,31
Christiana died on 27 Jun 1893.32,33
Abraham died on 29 Mar 1895 in Point Twp., Pennsylvania, at age 78, where he had lived with his son Peter for some years.14,15 He was buried in Oak Grove Church Cemetery, Montour Co., Pennsylvania, by his first wife.16
