     Robert Bowers Garrett was born on 16 Sep 1888 in Kansas City, Missouri.7,8,9
     He appeared on the 1895 State Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, in the household of his parents, Samuel C. Garrett and Letitia W. Bowers.16 He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, in the household of his parents.5 He appeared on the 1905 State Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, in the household of his parents.17
     He moved to Missouri with his parents by 1909.18,19 He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri, in the household of his parents.20
     He was a clerk at the Garrett Cement Company, operated by his father and a partner, by 1909. By 1910 he was a manager there. By 1911, when his father was president of Missouri Cement & Supply Co., he was secretary there. The following year his father was president of General Supply Co. and Robert was a salesman there.18,21,22
     Robert married Dorothy A. Oldham, daughter of Charles A. Oldham and Caroline L. Ashbrook, on 29 Mar 1911 in Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri, with Rev. Frank S. Arnold, Presbyterian minister, officiating.10,11,12
     Robert was a salesman at Roll Lime & Cement Co. by 1913, and at Oriental Cement-Plaster Co. the following year. He continued in sales for several years, but most of the firms have not been identified.23 He registered for the draft for World War I on 5 Jun 1917, while living at 3810 Highland Ave., Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri, reporting he was employed as a salesman with National Biscuit Co. at Milwaukee and Central Sts.2
     Robert and Dorothy appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri, at 3938 Tracy Ave., enumerated 2 Jan 1920, reporting they rented their home. Their son Robert was listed as living with them, as was her mother.24
     He was the manager of St. Regis Garage by 1920, remaining there for several years. About 1925 he worked for a time as foreman for Baker Auto Service Co. then returned to St. Regis.25,26,27
     Robert and Dorothy appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri, at 1214 East 34th St., enumerated 11 Apr 1930, reporting they rented their home, for $37.50 per month, and did not own a radio. Their son Robert was listed as living with them.28
     For a time around 1930 Robert worked for a sales agency, though his role there is unclear. By 1931 he returned to Baker Auto Service Co. By 1935 he was a mechanic at Missouri Contracting Co.29,30
     Robert and Dorothy appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri, at 43 West 58 St. Terrace, enumerated 13 Apr 1940, reporting they were renting their home, for $45 per month, and had lived in the same city in 1935. Also listed as living with them were his mother and six men between the ages of 20 and 26, engaged in various occupations, listed as lodgers.31
     He was the owner of a gasoline station at 228 SW Blvd. by 1939, in partnership with Carl F. Butterly. In 1940 he reported working 50 hours the last week of March, and 52 weeks the prior year, earning $1,800.32,33 Robert registered for the draft for World War II on 27 Apr 1942, while living at 43 West 58 St. Terrace, Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri, reporting he was employed by the Sinclair filling station at 228 Southwest Blvd.34
     Robert died on 29 Jul 1945 in 43 West 58 St. Terrace, Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri, at age 56.3,13 He was buried on 31 Jul 1945 in Mount Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, in the Garrett family lot.14,15
