Lory Emerson Thompson was born on 6 Apr 1884 in Clarion Co., PennsylvaniaG.4,5,6
     He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Paint Twp., Clarion Co., Pennsylvania, G in the household of his parents, Charles G. Thompson and Phebe Wagner.14
     Lory moved to West VirginiaG before 1910. He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Dry Fork, Randolph Co., West Virginia G, enumerated 21 Apr 1910, as one of ten boarders listed in the boarding house operated by Miss Jennie Keeley.15
     He was a filer at a saw mill by 1910.16
     Lory married first Grace Masshan Ethel Marshall, daughter of Ira D. Marshall and Clara M. Jackson, on 6 May 1911 in Alexander, Upshur Co., West VirginiaG, with Rev. A. F. Hess officiating.7,8,9
     Lory and Grace moved to OhioG before 1918. He registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Sep 1918, while living at 803 Pearl St, Martins Ferry, Belmont Co., OhioG, reporting he was employed as a saw filer for La Belle Box Company in Martins Ferry.3
     Lory and Grace appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio, at 1428 Dorr St. G, enumerated 8 Jan 1920, reporting they rented their home.17
     He was a clerk at a shoe store by 1920, reporting in 1940 he had worked 60 hours the last week of March, and 46 weeks the prior year, earning $1,510.18,19,20
     Lory and Grace appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio, at 3943 Burnham Ave. G, enumerated 4 Apr 1930, reporting they rented their home, for $40 per month, and owned a radio. Their adopted daughter Beatrice was listed as living with them.21
     Lory and Grace moved to CincinnatiG before her death.
     His wife died on 3 Dec 1939 in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG.22,23
     Lory appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 3626 Maclede G, enumerated 16 Apr 1940, reporting he rented his home, for $23 per month, and that he had lived in the same house in 1935. His adopted daughter Beatrice was listed as living with him.24
     Lory registered for the draft for World War II on 25 Apr 1942, while living at 4605 Winona Terrace, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG, reporting he was employed by Thompson and Grow in Cincinnati.25
     Lory married Alma Elizabeth Stagge, daughter of Robert Frederick Stagge and Elizabeth Caroline Wieman. She had previously been married to Roy Everett Stevens.10
     Lory and Alma moved to ColumbusG before 1950. They appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio G, enumerated 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm.26
     He was a salesman at a mens' clothing store in ColumbusG.27
     Lory died on 27 Apr 1979 in Montgomery, Hamilton Co., OhioG, at age 95.12,13 He was buried in Arlington Memorial Gardens, Mount Healthy, Hamilton Co., OhioG.11
