They were listed as farmers, but may have been hired hands on the farm.¹⁴ James returned to Arkansas before long.

     James returned to Louisiana, but when is unclear. He has not been found in the 1910 or 1920 censuses. He appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of DeSoto Parish, Louisiana, G in the household of his son George.¹⁵ He was listed as a laborer at a home farm, apparently his son's farm.¹⁶
