Paul Edgar Gooley was born on 13 Feb 1898 in South Bend, IndianaG.4,5,6
     He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Portage, St Joseph Co., Indiana, G in the household of his parents, George L. Gooley and Dorothy R. Hoke.13 He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of River Park, Saint Joseph Co., Indiana, G in the household of his parents.13
     Paul registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Sep 1918, while living at 2622 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, St Joseph Co., IndianaG, reporting he was employed as a payroll clerk at Singer Manufacturing Co. in South Bend.3 He was a clerk at a furniture store in 1920.14
     He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of South Bend, St Joseph Co., Indiana, G in the household of his parents.15
     Paul married Gertrude H. Baumgartner, daughter of John H. Baumgartner and Emma H. Kuhlman, on 11 Aug 1921 in St Joseph Co., IndianaG, with John F. De Groote offciating.7,8,9
     Paul and Gertrude appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of South Bend, St Joseph Co., Indiana, at 2906 Mishawaka Ave. G, enumerated 3 May 1930, reporting they owned a home valued at $8,000, and did not own a radio. Their children James, Dorothy, and William were listed as living with them.16
     He had returned to Singer by 1930, and had become an accountant. He reported in 1940 he had worked 40 hours the last week of March, and 52 weeks the prior year, earning $2,200.17,18
     Paul and Gertrude appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of South Bend, St Joseph Co., Indiana, at 2906 Mishawaka Ave. G, enumerated 5 Oct 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $7,000, and that they had lived in the same house in 1935. Their children James, Dorothy, William, and Jean were listed as living with them.19
     Paul registered for the draft for World War II on 16 Feb 1942, while living at 2906 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, St Joseph Co., IndianaG, reporting he was employed by Singer Manufacturing Company.20
     Paul died on 13 Nov 1956 in IndianaG at age 58.10,11 He was buried in Highland Cemetery, South Bend, St. Joseph Co., IndianaG.12
