Richard Schooler Hooton was born about 1870 in Pottawattamie Co., IowaG.4,5,6 He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa, G in the household of his mother, Martha A. Schooler.12 He appeared on the 1885 State Census of Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., IowaG, in the household of his mother.13
     Richard married first Cora E. Huffman, daughter of Isiah Huffman and Samantha Darrel, on 8 Dec 1894 in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., IowaG.2,7
     Richard and Cora appeared on the 1895 State Census of Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., IowaG. Her mother, Samantha Darrel, was listed as living with them.14
     Richard appeared on the 1905 State Census of Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa, at 106 Main St. G, reporting that he did not own his home.15
     Richard married second Minnie Belle Howard, daughter of Francis Thomas Howard and Mary Elizabeth, on 23 Sep 1907 in Pottawattamie Co., IowaG.8,9,10

     He was a bill poster in 1895, and an awning maker in 1905. That year he reported he had been unemployed four months the prior year. By 1910 he had become a house painter.14,15,17
     Richard died before 1915.11

Her son Charles was listed as living with them.29 Her daughter Pauline was listed as an inmate at the Iowa Industrial School for Girls, Beaver Twp., Polk Co., IowaG.30
     Her husband died on 15 Jul 1934.31
     Minnie appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Miramonte, Los Angeles Co., California G, enumerated 20 Apr 1940, reporting she had lived in Omaha, Nebraska in 1935. She was living with Dorothy I. Collins, age 32, divorced, and an inspector for a tire factory, while Minnie was not employed. It would seem they were somehow related, but if so how is not known. They reported they were renting their home for $28 per month. Also listed as living with them was John Grace, identified as a lodger.32
     Minnie appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Signal Hill, Los Angeles Co., California, at 2150 E 21st G, enumerated 18 Apr 1950, listed as a housekeeper in the home of Dottie D. Hinshaw, a 78-year-old widow, reporting she had worked 48 hours the prior week.33
     Minnie died on 17 Jul 1966 in Los Angeles Co., CaliforniaG, at age 75.14 She was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cypress, Orange Co., CaliforniaG.15
