Narrative:

John Minch was born about 2 Mar 1812 in Darmstadt, Kurfuerstentum HessenG.4,5,6 John's surname was originally spelled as Münch, but in the U. S. he used the spelling Minch.2
     John married Catharine Goembel, daughter of Sebastian Goembel and Anna Eva Schaeffer, on 27 Apr 1837 in Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., IllinoisG.7,8,9
     John and Catharine appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Tazewell Co., IllinoisG, enumerated 4 Oct 1850, reporting real estate valued at $1,200. Their children Catherine, Polly, Jacob, Sebastian, Henry, George, and John were listed as living with them.3
     John and Catharine appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., IllinoisG, enumerated 14 Jun 1860, reporting real estate valued at $9,600 and personal estate of $1,000. Their children Polly, Jacob, Sebastian, Henry, George, John, William, Daniel, and Philip were listed as living with them.13
     John and Catharine appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., IllinoisG, enumerated 29 Jun 1870, reporting real estate valued at $26,000 and person estate of $1,800. Their children William, Daniel, and Philip were listed as living with them, as were Anna Gill, age 10, relationship unknown, and Joseph Swisher, a 25-year-old farm laborer.14
     John was a farmer.3,13,14 By 1880 he had retired. He and Catharine moved into town.15
     He and Catharine appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois G, enumerated 19 Jun 1880. Their daughter Polly was listed as living with them.16
     John died on 28 Sep 1889 at age ~77.10,11 He was buried in Glendale Cemetery, Washington, Tazewell Co., IllinoisG.12
