George Don Luce Jr. was born on 25 Jul 1875 in New Orleans, LouisianaG.1,4,5,6
     His mother died on 28 Jun 1879, when George was 3 years old.13,14
     George appeared with his father, George Don Luce, on the 1880 Federal Census of New Orleans, Orleans Parish, LouisianaG, in the household of Elizabeth Jordan, his maternal grandmother.15
     George moved to Chicago by 1897, when he was working as a draftsman, and living at 3158 Groveland Ave. G.16 The next year he was working as a clerk, and living at 1819 W HarrisonG.17 He was a jewelry salesman by 1900.18
     George appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, at 1648 Congress St. G, enumerated 12 Jun 1900, a boarder, along with a lawyer, in the household of H. E. Wirth and her four teenaged and young adult children.19
     George married Irene Victoria Wieman, daughter of George D. Wieman and Annie Scully, on 9 Jun 1906 in Chicago, IllinoisG, at the home of her aunt.7,8,9
     He was a mechanical engineer by the time of marriage, when he was engineering heating and ventilation systems for Sears, Roebuck and Company. He later worked as a mechanical engineer for an architectural firm. He reported in 1940 he had worked 39 hours the last week of March, and 52 weeks the prior year, earning $2,800.20,21,22,23,24
     George and Irene appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, at 3633 N. Herding Ave. G, enumerated 25 Apr 1910, reporting that the family owned its home. Their son George was listed as living with them, as well as her aunts, Caroline and Mary Scully.25
     George registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Sep 1918, while living at 3633 N. Harding Ave, Chicago, Cook Co., IllinoisG, reporting he was employed as a mechanical engineer for Graham, Anderson, Probst, and White.3
     George and Irene appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, at 3633 Herding Ave. G, enumerated 15 Jan 1920, reporting that the family owned its home. Their son George was listed as living with them.26
     George and Irene appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, at 3633 Herding Ave. G, enumerated 4 Apr 1930, reporting that the family owned a home valued at $12,000, and owned a radio. Their son George was listed as living with them.27
     George and Irene appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, at 3633 Harding G, enumerated 17 Apr 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $2,500, and that they had lived in the same house in 1935. Their son George was listed as living with them.28
     George registered for the draft for World War II on 27 Nov 1945, while living at 3633 N. Harding Ave., Chicago, Cook Co., IllinoisG, reporting he was employed by Graham, Anderson, Probst, and White in Chicago.29
     George and Irene appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, at 3633 Harding G, enumerated 7 Apr 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm.30
     George died on 27 Aug 1953 in Chicago, Cook Co., IllinoisG, at age 78.10,11 He was buried on 31 Aug 1953 in St. Josephs Cemetery, River Grove, IllinoisG.12
