On 20 Jun, the Brigade, including the 32nd Regiment, was transferred to the Department of the Missouri and moved by boat to St. Louis. Here it was dispatched to the far west via Fort Leavenworth. It marched on the 22nd, and arrived 13 Aug at Fort Kearney, Nebraska, where orders for muster out were received. The unit reached Fort Leavenworth 2 Sep, and mustered out 16 Sep, and was paid off at Camp Butler.
