     Robert moved to Scranton by 1891, when he was working as a bookkeeper for Lackawanna Store Association, Ltd. He was boarding at 614 Adams Ave. G.15
     He was an insurance agent for Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company of Newark, New Jersey by 1898 in ScrantonG, and a real estate agent with his own agency in ScrantonG by 1910.16,17,18,19
     Robert married Rosaline Agnes Scott, daughter of Rufus G. Scott and Mary Jane Farout, on 27 Apr 1898 in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Montrose, Susquehanna Co., PennsylvaniaG, with Rev. E. A. Warrner officiating, before family and a large congregation.7,8,9

     Robert was an assistant manager for Prudential Insurance Company in New York. In that position in 1940 he reported that he had worked 40 hours the last week of March, and 50 weeks the prior year, earning $3,000.27,28,29

     He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, G in the household of his parents, Hunting Cooper Jessup and Marina Modena Cobb.10
     His father died on 6 Dec 1897, when Samuel was 18 years old.11,12 His mother died on 12 Nov 1898, when Samuel was 19 years old.13,14
