Thomas Imel was born on 3 Oct 1838 in Northumberland Co., PennsylvaniaG.4,5,6,7 He was probably one of the two males under age 5 listed in the household of his father, Christian Imel, in the 1840 Federal Census of Mifflin Twp., Columbia Co., PennsylvaniaG.15 He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Turbut Twp., Northumberland Co., PennsylvaniaG, in the household of his parents, Christian Imel and Marie Schuster.16 He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Turbut Twp., Northumberland Co., PennsylvaniaG, in the household of his parents.17
     Thomas married Violetta Riegel, daughter of Jacob K. Riegel and Christiana Ohl, on 12 Nov 1863.8,9,10
     Thomas and Violetta moved their family to King City, MissouriG, a small town some 30 miles north east of St. Joseph, between 1876 and 1880. They appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Jackson Twp., Gentry Co., Missouri G, at King City, enumerated 11 Jun 1880. Their children George, John, Elmer, Ida, Ira, and Noma were listed as living with them.18
     Thomas and Violetta moved their family into the city of St. Joseph by 1887. His brother Peter and his wife moved there about the same time.19,20 Thomas and Violetta appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., Missouri G, at 633 Albemarle, enumerated 6 Jun 1900, reporting that the family owned its home, which was mortgaged. Their children Ira and Noma were listed as living with them.21
     They appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., Missouri G, at 633 Albemarle, enumerated 30 Apr 1910, reporting that they owned their home, free of mortgage. His older brother, Peter, is listed as living with them.22
     Thomas and his brother Peter were carpenters in PennsylvaniaG.23,24,25 They continued in that trade when they moved to Missouri. After Peter came to St. Joseph they both worked for Francis W. Lewis, a stair builder, for several years.26,27
     From about 1890 to 1895 they worked together as contractors under the name of Imel Brothers, with facilities at 1708 Frederick Ave., St. JosephG.28 After the partnership with his brother was dissolved about 1896 Thomas returned to working for others as a carpenter. He returned to F. W. Lewis for a time. From about 1902 to 1905 he worked for H. Ehrlich & Sons, butchers and suppliers of bar supplies and refrigeration, as a cabinetmaker.29,30,31,32 After about 1907 he identified himself as a saw filer rather than a carpenter.33,34,35
     About 1916 Thomas and Violetta moved in with their daughter Noma and her husband, at 2919 CharlesG.36
     Thomas died on 30 Jan 1917 in 2919 Charles St., St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., MissouriG, at age 78.11,12 He was buried on 1 Feb 1917 in Mt. Mora Cemetery, St. Joseph, MissouriG, in his own lot.13,14

Abraham Clemens was born on 6 Apr 1816 in Lower Augusta Twp., PennsylvaniaG.4,5,6
     His father died in 1817, when Abraham was about one year old.16
     He was probably one of the two males age 20 to 30 listed in the household of his mother, Sophia Kramer, in the 1840 Federal Census of Augusta Twp., Northumberland Co., PennsylvaniaG.17
     Abraham married Lucy Ann Heilman, daughter of Daniel Heilman and Gertrant Diehl, about 1841.7,8,9
     Abraham and Lucy appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Lower Augusta Twp., Northumberland Co., PennsylvaniaG, enumerated 30 Sep 1850, reporting no real estate. Their children Peter, Sophia, Christiana, Daniel, Maria, John, and Samuel were listed as living with them, as was 9-year-old Jacob Clemens, relationship unknown. He does not appear to have been their son Jacob who reportedly died as an infant both because of his age and the fact that he was listed after all their other children.1
     Abraham and Lucy moved to Upper Augusta Twp.G before 1860. They are also reported to have lived in Milton and Mooresburg after they left Lower Augusta, but whether that was before or after they lived in Upper Augusta is unclear.18 They appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Upper Augusta Twp.G enumerated 25 Jun 1860, reporting no real estate but personal estate of $900. Their children Sophia, Christiana, Daniel, Maria, John, Samuel, Abraham, Jane, Jeremiah, Hannah, and Catharine were listed as living with them.19
     Abraham and Lucy moved to Montour Co.G, over 100 miles south on the Pennsylvania - Maryland line, before 1870. They appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Liberty Twp., Montour Co., PennsylvaniaG, enumerated 14 Jul 1870, reporting no real estate but personal estate of $1,700. Their children Abraham, Jane, Jeremiah, Hannah, and Catharine were listed as living with them, as was their adopted son, Joseph Williams.20
     His wife died on 10 Nov 1879.21,22
     Abraham appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Liberty Twp., Montour Co., Pennsylvania G, enumerated 22 Jun 1880. His children Jeremiah and Catharine were listed as living with him, as was his adopted son, Joseph Williams. His daughter Maria, her husband, and their three children were listed as living in the same building.23
     He was a farmer, at times working at milling and tanning as well.24,25,26,27,28
     Abraham married second Christiana Ohl, daughter of John Ohl and Margaret, between Jun 1880 and 1883.10,11,12
     Abraham bought two acres in Delaware Twp.G, from Christiana's long-time neighbors, Jacob Derr and his wife, on 1 Apr 1882, for $375. On 20 Aug 1883 he sold that parcel to Christiana for the same amount.29,30,31
     Christiana died on 27 Jun 1893.32,33
     Abraham died on 29 Mar 1895 in Point Twp., PennsylvaniaG, at age 78, where he had lived with his son Peter for some years.13,14 He was buried in Oak Grove Church Cemetery, Montour Co., PennsylvaniaG, by his first wife.15

Mary Catharine Riegel was born on 23 Feb 1853 in PennsylvaniaG.4,5,6
     Her father died on 13 Sep 1857, when Mary was 4 years old.14 Mary appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Turbut Twp., Northumberland Co., PennsylvaniaG, in the household of Charles Reigle, who is thought to have been her uncle. They were living on the property formerly owned by her parents. Her older brother Jacob was apparently living close by, as the family he was living with are listed preceeding.15,16,17
     Mary married John Henry Simons, son of Nicholas Simons and Ann, about 1879.7,8,9
     Mary and John appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Turbut Twp., Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania G, enumerated 14 Jun 1880. Their son Clarence was listed as living with them, as was Annie Snyder, age 22, reported as a boarder.18
     Mary was named an heir in the will of Christiana Ohl, her mother, dated 19 May 1891, but received nothing when she died because all the assets were used to settle debts.19
     Mary and John appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Milton, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, at 216 Cherry St. G, enumerated 8 Jun 1900, reporting that they rented their home. Their children Clarence, Bertha, William, Anna, Charles, Lera, and Sarah were listed as living with them.20
     Mary and John appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Milton, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, at 340 Wall St. G, enumerated 19 Apr 1910, reporting that they owned their home, which was mortgaged. Their children Bertha, William, and Sarah were listed as living with them.21
     Mary died on 11 Feb 1918 in Milton, Northumberland Co., PennsylvaniaG, at age 64.10,11,12 She was buried on 15 Feb 1918 in Harmony CemeteryG.13
