     Alvina Louise Gapsch was born on 17 Aug 1896 in Washington Co., Oregon.7,8,9,10 She appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Reedville, Washington Co., Oregon, in the household of her parents, Robert Edward Gapsch and Matilda Henriksdotter.4
     She moved to La Center, Washington, with her parents, after they bought the farm there in Nov 1900. They loaded all their goods on a wagon, and herded the dairy cows all the way, some 50 miles, crossing the Columbia River on a ferry.19 She appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of La Center, Washington in the household of her parents.20
     Alvina married first George Howard Borst, son of John Fred Borst and Mary E. [surname unknown], on 25 Jul 1918 in Multnomah Co., Oregon.11,12,13
     Alvina was a comptometer operator at a wholesale grocery in 1920, and a business manager at a medical clinic by 1930.21,22
     Alvina and George appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, at 699 East 69th St. North, enumerated 3 Jan 1920, reporting that they owned their home, which was mortgaged.23 They appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, at 687 East 39th St. North, enumerated 7 Apr 1930, reporting that they owned a home valued at $6000, and owned a radio set.24
     Alvina and George appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, at 3145 N E 39th Ave., enumerated 5 Apr 1940, reporting that they owned a home valued at $3,500, and had lived in the same house in 1935.25
     Alvina was living in Vancouver, Washington, in Jun 1946 when she acted as informant for her father's death certificate.26
     Her husband died on 25 Nov 1950 in Portland, Oregon.27,28,15
     Alvina and Mark Dunham met while living at Willamette View Manor, a Methodist home near Milwaukie, Oregon. They had both lived there from the time of its opening in Jan 1955. According to newspaper accounts, they caused considerable excitement among fellow residents when they announced their engagement 1 Jun 1956.29
     Alvina married second Mark Waitman Dunham, son of Enoch J. Dunham and Edith [surname unknown], on 1 Aug 1956 in Rose City Park Methodist Church, with Dr. Roy A. Fedje officiating.14,15
     Alvina died on 22 Jan 1991 in Milwaukie, Clackamas Co., Oregon, at age 94.16,17,18
