Narrative:

     Isham H. Britton was born about 1798 in Virginia.4
     Isham married Mary W. Toot, daughter of Adam Toot and Sarah King, on 10 Feb 1823 in Halifax Co., Virginia.5,6
     Isham was named an executor in the will of Adam Toot, his wife's father, dated 12 Nov 1835.9 He had the will of Adam Toot proved 24 Jun 1839 in Halifax Co. court, and posted a bond of $20,000 as executor.10
     Isham purchased farm tools, a sorrel mare, furniture including two beds, and dishes totaling $160 at the sale of his wife's father's estate on 5 Nov 1839.11
     Isham filed an accounting of the estate of Adam Toot as his executor.12
     Isham and Mary W. Toot appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Halifax Co., Virginia, enumerated 8 Aug 1850, reporting real estate valued at $14,000. Their children William, Sarah, John, Andrew, Lucy, Mary, Peyton and Melcajah were listed as living with them, as was William Rice, age 55. There were 46 slaves listed as well.3,13 He was a farmer.3
     Isham died before 1852.7,8
