Narrative:

Edward Lloyd Cobb was born on 4 Mar 1889 in Henderson, Union Co., Kentucky.6,7,8
He appeared with his mother, Ada V. Cavanah, on the 1900 Federal Census of Driskill, Livingston Co., Kentucky, in the household of Jules Spuryear and Ida U. Cavanah, his mother's sister and her husband.21
Edward appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Paducah, McCracken Co., Kentucky, enumerated 20 Apr 1910, reporting that he rented his home. His mother and his stepfather, John B. Wild, were listed as living with him.22
Edward married first Maggie Williams, daughter of J. B. Williams and Sarah C. Leply, about 1911.9,10
Edward registered for the draft for World War I on 5 Jun 1917, while living at 463 St. Louis St., Springfield, Missouri, reporting he was employed as a boiler maker for the Frisco Railway. He requested an exemption from service because he was supporting his mother, father (actually his stepfather), and son.1
Edward married second Fannie Craker, daughter of Henry C. Craker and Belle [surname unknown], about 1919.11,12
Edward appeared with his wife, Fannie Craker, on the 1920 Federal Census of Springfield, Greene Co., Missouri, in the household of Henry C. Craker and Belle [surname unknown], her parents.23 He and Fannie Craker were evidently divorced by about 1921, as both of them re-married in 1922.13,14
Edward married third Virginia Lorena Philley about 1922.15,16,17
Edward and Virginia appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Fulton, Fulton Co., Kentucky, at 108 Sixth, enumerated 15 Apr 1930, reporting that they owned a home valued at $2,000, and owned a radio. Their children Frances, Sara and Edna were listed as living with them His children Oscar were listed as living with him, and two lodgers, Tom Wyle, a 59-year-old concrete foreman on a railroad, and John B. Wyle, age 84.24
Edward and Virginia appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Fulton Co., Kentucky, enumerated 6 Jun 1940, reporting that they were renting their home, for $10 per month, and had lived in the same house in 1935. Their children Frances, Sara, Edna, Peggy, Mary and Joseph were listed as living with them.25
He was a boiler maker for a railroad, at least part of that time for the St. Louis - San Francisco Railway, better known as Frisco Railway. In 1940 he reported that he had worked 48 hours the last week of March, and had worked 52 weeks the prior year, earning $1,800.26,27,28,29,30

Research Note, 25 May 2009: According to family tradition, Edward Lloyd Cobb was a descendant of Robert Livingston Cobb, and Robert's grandson Irvin S. Cobb was a great-uncle of Edward's daughter Virginia. However, Edward's father was Frank Cobb, and there is no known Frank Cobb who was a descendant of Robert who could be Edward's father. Sharon Noyes is certain that this Frank Cobb was Micajah C. "Frank" Cobb born about 1859 to Micajah Cobb and Mary J. Cavanah, both of Henderson, Kentucky. That is consistent with Edward's birth in Henderson, according to his draft registration. There is no known connection between this Cobb line and the Barnstable Cobb family.32,33,5,34,35
