Dear Children,
I recd your letter of 7th today. I am hoping Mary will improve as she looked almost as well as she used to. I appreciate what you say in your letter. We recd a sweet letter from Laura today. Annie is holding out so much better than I expected. We looked through Ma's trunk Monday and in the velvet covered box John had she kept little valuables things I found written on a sheet of unruled paper a statement of her conversion. I had purchased [?] about the time before the last. So I did not know of her writing it. She has thought it would trouble us to know she was anticipating sudden departure. It has been recently written no date on the paper. I send you a copy. We were talking today about Ma's picture. Annie says she can't find the one made by Bro. Ashworth high or low. So we went through the trunk again today. We found one upstairs taken Annie says at Church Hill it is smaller than the Ashworth. At the bottom of her trunk today I noticed an old pocket out of one of her skirts tied up with a string. I untied and a Pocket Book (black) in color was in it. I opened and found 25$ in gold she had put away. I slept pretty well first part of the last two nights. I have been taking Caskaretts and they have relieved me of vertigo. I still do not feel like eating much. Jo sleeps on cot in my room. Whitefoot found a calf yesterday. The children are all at school today (I will stop until morning now 5 PM 8th Dec.) On 9th I slept the first part of last night but I was wakeful the last part. I had Jo make my fire at 6' and sent him in to make one for his Mother. JK has been nursing a cold ever since he went to Marion. It is cold this AM and looks wintry.
