Lucy B. Cobb was born about 7 Aug 1810 in Vernon, Oneida Co., New York.6,7,8Her father died on 21 Sep 1826, when Lucy was about 16 years old.4,14,15
Lucy married Norman Calhoun on 18 Jan 1832 in Rochester, New York, with Rev. Gilbert Morgan officating.9,10,11
Lucy and Norman moved to Washtenaw Co., in the southeast corner of Michigan Territory, by 1835.16 She was probably the female age 30 to 40 listed in the household of her husband, Norman, in the 1840 Federal Census of Washtenaw Co., Michigan.17
Lucy and Norman appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Bridgewater, Washtenaw Co., Michigan, enumerated 21 Sep 1850, reporting real estate valued at $4,000. Their children Cecilia, Emma, Henry, Charles and Mary were listed as living with them, as was Cornelius Hyatt, age 19.18
Lucy and Norman appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Bridgewater, Washtenaw Co., Michigan, enumerated 22 Jun 1860, reporting real estate valued at $8,500 and personal estate of $2,000. Their children Henry, Charles and Mary were listed as living with them, as were Regina Warner, a 20-year-old domestic, and Nicholas Cody, a 25-year-old farm laborer.19
Norman retired and he and Lucy moved to Lenawee Co. between 1860 and 1870. They appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Clinton, Lenawee Co., Michigan, enumerated 28 Jun 1870, reporting that she had real estate valued at $4,000 and he had personal estate of $10,000. Sarah Martin, a 19-year-old domestic servant was listed as living with them.20
Her husband died on 15 Aug 1876 in Clinton, Lenawee Co., Michigan.21,22
Lucy appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Clinton, Lenawee Co., Michigan, enumerated 1 Jun 1880. She was living in what appears to be a multi-unit building, with another individual and two families also living there. She may have been one of the tenants, but more likely she owned the building and was renting space to others.23
Lucy died on 18 Sep 1892.12,13 She was buried in Bridgewater Center Cemetery, Washtenaw Co., Michigan.3
