     Charles Lafett McNatt was born on 20 Jan 1878 in Texas Co., Missouri.6,7,8,9
     He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Pierce Twp., Texas Co., Missouri, in the household of his parents, J. Elie McNatt and Elisabeth [surname unknown].4
     Charles married Elizabeth Jane Spurlock, daughter of John Spurlock, on 24 Feb 1897 in Douglas Co., Missouri, with Rev. John A. Spurlock, Baptist minister, officating. Her father had given permission for her marriage since she was under the age of 18. Charles was under the age of 21 and should also have gotten permission, but he claimed to be over 21.10,11,12
     Charles and Elizabeth appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Finley Twp., Webster Co., Missouri, enumerated 19 Jun 1900, reporting that they rented their home. Their daughter Anna was listed as living with them.17
     Charles and Elizabeth appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Findley Twp., Douglas Co., Missouri, enumerated 25 Apr 1910, reporting that they were renting their home. Their children Maude, Bessie, John, Violet and Charles were listed as living with them, as was her father, John Spurlock.18
     Charles and Elizabeth moved their family to Iowa, settling near Shenandoah, about 1914.19,20 They appeared on the 1915 State Census of Fisher Twp., Fremont Co., Iowa, reporting that they did not own their home. Their children Maude, Bessie, John, Violet, Charles and Ollie were listed as living with them. The parents reported they were affiliated with the Christian Union Church.21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28
     Charles and Elizabeth moved their family to Oklahoma about 1917. Charles registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Sep 1918, while living at Lyons, Adair Co., Oklahoma, reporting he was a farmer in Lyons.29
     Charles and Elizabeth took in Odus Lester Morris, the infant son of their daughter Maude, after her death in Oct 1918.
     Charles and Elizabeth appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Stillwell, Adair Co., Oklahoma, enumerated 3 Jan 1920, reporting that they were renting their home. Their children Bessie, John, Violet, Charles, Ollie and Beulah were listed as living with them, as was their grandson, Odus.30
     Charles and Elizabeth appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Stilwell, Adair Co., Oklahoma, at Olive St., enumerated 9 Apr 1930, reporting that they owned a home valued at $2,500, but did not own a radio. Their children Charles, Ollie, Beulah and Violet were listed as living with them, as were Violet's sons Roy and Coy Briggs, and their grandson Odus.31
     Charles registered for the draft for World War II on 27 Apr 1942, while living at Stilwell, Adair Co., Oklahoma, reporting he was employed as a blacksmith for the W.P.A.3
     He was a farmer in 1900 in Missouri, and a blacksmith, doing horse shoeing by 1910. He worked as a laborer in Iowa, reporting in 1915 that he had been unemployed four months the prior year, but had earned $400.32,33,21 He returned to blacksmithing in Oklahoma, calling himself a mechanic doing blacksmith work in 1920.34,35
     Charles and Elizabeth appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Stilwell, Adair Co., Oklahoma, at N. 7th St., enumerated 14 Apr 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm and they lived in the same house the year before. Both reported they were unable to work. But he reported $600 and a relative in the household (apparently her) $384 in interest, pensions, etc. the prior year

     His wife died on 6 Jul 1964.37
     Charles died on 6 Jul 1966 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at age 88.13,14,15 He was buried in Stilwell Cemetery, Stilwell, Adair Co., Oklahoma, next to his wife.16
