     George Howard Borst was born on 23 Jul 1897 in Prosser, Washington.9,10,11 He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Lone Tree, Yakima Co., Washington, in the household of his parents, John Fred Borst and Mary E. [surname unknown]4 He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of North Prosser, Washington in the household of his parents.5
     George married Alvina Louise Gapsch, daughter of Robert Edward Gapsch and Matilda Henriksdotter, on 25 Jul 1918 in Multnomah Co., Oregon.12,13,14
     George registered for the draft for World War I on 24 Aug 1918, while living at 166 St. Clair, Portland, Oregon, reporting he was employed by S P & S Railroad in Portland.1
     George and Alvina appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, at 699 East 69th St. North, enumerated 3 Jan 1920, reporting that they owned their home, which was mortgaged.18 They appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, at 687 East 39th St. North, enumerated 7 Apr 1930, reporting that they owned a home valued at $6000, and owned a radio set.19

     He was a billing clerk in a millinery house in 1920, and a clerk at a steam ship company by 1930. By 1940 he was the secretary/bookkeeper of a transfer office. That year he reported that he had worked 48 hours the last week of March, and had worked 52 weeks the prior year, earning $1,700.21,22
     George died on 25 Nov 1950 in Portland, Oregon, at age 53.15,16,17
