Narrative:

     Israel Gann was born on 11 May 1814 in Nippenose Valley, Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania.7,8,9
     He was probably one of the three males under age 10 listed in the household of his father, John Gann, in the 1820 Federal Census of Nippenose Twp., Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania.17 He was probably the male age 15 to 20 listed in the household of his father in the 1830 Federal Census of Adams Twp., Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania.18
     Israel married Leah Moore, daughter of Johann George Moore and Susanna Radner, on 22 Jun 1837 in Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania.10,11,12
     Israel appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Limestone Twp., Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania, with a household consisting of one male under age 5 (son Henry), and two age 20 to 30 (himself and perhaps a brother), and one female under age 5 (daughter Sarah), and one age 20 to 30 (wife Leah). They were apparently living near his parents as they appear as the preceding household.1
     Israel and Leah appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Limestone Twp., Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 14 Aug 1850, reporting value of real estate owned as $4,000. Their children Sarah, Mary, Levi, Joseph and Abraham were listed as living with them.2 His sister Elizabeth and her family were apprently living nearby, as they appear as the previous family on the census record.19
     Israel and Leah appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Limestone Twp., Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 14 Jun 1860, reporting $6,200 in real estate and $2,500 in personal property. Their children Sarah, Mary, Levi, Joseph, Abraham, Maria, Ida and William were listed as living with them, as was his mother, Catherine Christ.20
     Israel was named an executor in the will of his brother John dated 28 Apr 1869.21
     Israel and Leah appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Collomsville, Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 1 Aug 1870, reporting real estate of $16,000 and personal estate of $2,000. Their children Levi, William, Maria and Ida were listed as living with them.22
     He was a farmer, accumulating considerable property, and described as "a well-to-do, excellent farmer and highly esteemed citizen."23,2,20,22,24
     Israel died on 7 Aug 1872 at age 58.13,14,11 He was buried in St. Peters Lutheran Church Cemetery, Collomsville, Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania.15,16
