Narrative:

Norman Stewart was born on 18 Feb 1874 in Edinburgh, Scotland.6,7,8
He immigrated to the U.S. when his parents returned home from their extended wedding tour of Europe, arriving with them in New York on 20 Aug 1874 aboard the Bothnia.16,17,18
He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Clarksville, Montgomery Co., Tennessee, in the household of his parents, Bryce Stewart and Sallie West Cobb.2
Norman was named an heir in the will of Bryce Stewart, his father, dated 6 May 1891 in Clarksville, Montgomery Co., Tennessee, to receive one-quarter of his property in Virginia, and one-third of his property in Tennessee Kentucky, Florida, and Arkansas. His share was to be held in trust until he reached age 25, and his father urged him to leave it with the executors to invest after that. He was to receive from his share up to $1200 per year for his education and maintenance.
His father's will was probated in Clarksville on 26 Jan 1894.19 No inventories of the estate have been found, but newspaper accounts of the probate estimated the values of the estate at $500,000 to $1,000,000.20
After the death of his father, he and his mother lived in Clarksville as late as 1895.21 Norman and his mother moved to Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, where her sisters Marina and Virginia were living.22,23
Norman married Mary Taylor, daughter of James P. Taylor and Margaret D. Ayres, on 23 Nov 1897 in Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, with Rev. A. L. Benton, pastor the Presbyterian Church, officiating.9,10,11
Norman and Mary appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, on South Main St., enumerated 14 Jun 1900, reporting that the family owned its home, mortgage free. Their son Norman was listed as living with them, as were two servants, Lizzie Dolan, age 18 and a cook, and Carrie M. Hibbard, a widow age 26 and a nurse.24
He reported his occupation as capitalist on the 1900 census, but reported he was a druggist six years later when he applied for citizenship.25,26
Norman applied for citizenship in the District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania on 26 Sep 1906, while living in Scranton. The application seems to have been approved, although the final order has not been found. While he claimed citizenship on the 1900 census, his father was not a citizen and apparently his mother's citizenship was insufficient to qualify him.27,28
Norman died on 3 Jan 1910 in Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, at age 35.12,13,14 He was buried on 6 Jan 1910 in Montrose Cemetery, Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania.15,1
