Georgina J. Mims was born on 26 Aug 1832 in Eddyville, Caldwell Co., Kentucky.8,9,10She was probably one of the two females age 5 to 10 listed in the household of his father, John H. Mims, in the 1840 Federal Census of Caldwell Co., Kentucky.14
Georgina married William Wallace Smith, son of Strother J Smith and Susannah Clark, on 29 Jan 1850 in Caldwell Co., Kentucky.11,12,13
Georgina appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Caldwell Co., Kentucky, in the household of her newly widowed mother. She is listed as George Anne S. Mims, a name found no where else. Why she is listed, eight months after her marriage, by her maiden name and without her husband is unknown. He is not listed with his parents in the 1850 census and cannot be found elsewhere. Perhaps he was actually living in the household and was omitted from the record in error.15,16
Georgina and William appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Eddyville, Lyon Co., Kentucky, enumerated 11 Aug 1860, reporting real estate of $100 and personal estate of $300. Their children William, Hanson, James and Effie were listed as living with them, as were Samual A. Smith, age 24 and a laborer, Anna E. Gregory, age 24 and a domestic, and two year old Sue A. Gregory.17
Georgina and William appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of District No. 1, Eddyville, Lyon Co., Kentucky, enumerated 27 Jun 1870, reporting personal estate of $200. Their children Hanson, James, Effie, Guy, Robbison and Hugh were listed as living with them.18
Georgina and William appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Eddyville, Lyon Co., Kentucky, enumerated 26 Jun 1880. Their son Hugh was listed as living with them.19
Georgina and William appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Eddyville, Lyon Co., Kentucky, at Main St., enumerated 5 Jun 1900, reporting they were renting their home. Also listed as living with them was a grandson, Robin Smith, age 14, and four borders: Thomas Leonard, manager of a sawmill, and his wife Louise, Gustava Ritt, an inspector, and Bartley James, a manufacturer.20
Her husband died on 13 Sep 1900.21,22
