     Martha Jane Sholter was born on 24 Aug 1914 in Lewisburg, Union Co., Pennsylvania.9,10,11
     She appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Lewisburg, Union Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of her parents, Charles D. Sholter and Daisy M. Allen.4 She appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Lewisburg, Union Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of her parents.5
     Martha apparently married first an unknown man. No record of the marriage has been found, but she is listed in the 1940 census with her parents, under her maiden name, but shown as divorced.12 Martha were divorced by 1940.12
     She appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Lewisburg, Union Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of her parents, Charles D. Sholter and Daisy M. Allen.25
     Martha married second a Mr. Elias about 1941. No record of the marriage has been found, and he has not been further identified.13,14
     Martha married third Joseph Robert Bowes, son of Newton A. Bowes and Jenneta Gemberling, on 18 Jun. He was the widower of Clara Baney.15,16,17
     Her third husband died on 29 Dec 1947 in Lewisburg, Union Co., Pennsylvania.26,27
     Martha married fourth Allen Clifford Price, son of McClellam Price and Lavina King, on 16 Jun 1948 in Stroudsburg, Monroe Co., Pennsylvania, at the Lutheran parsonage, with Rev. P. N. Hohlsen officiating. He had previously been married to Harriet B. Carlton.18,19,20
     Martha and Allen appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Lewisburg, Union Co., Pennsylvania, at 116 St Anthony St., enumerated 5 Apr 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm. Their son Allen was listed as living with them, as were her children by her prior marriages, Patricia Ann Elias and Joseph R. Bowes Jr.28
     She was doing house cleaning at a university by 1950, reporting in the 1950 census she had worked 24 hours the prior week. She also reported working 12 weeks in 1949, earning $152 in wages or salary.29
     Her fourth husband died on 3 Nov 1971 in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.30,31
     Martha married fifth Jay Nicholas Simons, son of Bertha Mae Simons, in Jun 1976 in Union Co., Pennsylvania. He was the widower of Anna Marie Styers.21,22,23
     She retired in 1979 from Par-Knit Manufacturing in Mifflinburg.32
     Her fifth husband died on 19 Apr 1984 in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.33,34,35
     Martha died on 11 Feb 1998 at age 83.24
     
Research Note, 21 Oct 2023:
Several un-sourced online trees identify the Mr. Elias who was married to Martha as William Frank Elias, born 2 Aug 1912 in Woodbridge, New Jersey and died 19 Sep 1998 in Peoria, Arizona. They show he also was married to Helen Ryder. No record of that marriage has been found, but his World War II draft card shows him married to Helen in Oct 1940. They also appear as married in the 1940 census (enumeration date not recorded) and the 1950 census. These records cast significant doubt on him having been Martha's husband.36,37,38,39

Martha had an additional daughter, father unknown, who is believed to still be living. In addition, her last husband's obituary mentions two step-daughters who would seem to have been hers, but may not have been since they are not mentioned in her obituary or that of per prior husband.40,41,42,43
