Narrative:

Pierre Isaac Lebeau was born on 21 Dec 1789.4
He was a descendant of the Huguenots, who like hundreds of thousands of Protestants, fled from France to the German states and other counties during the persecutions instigated by Louis XIV in the seventeenth century. Friedrichsdorf was founded by Huguenot refugees in 1687, named after Landgrave Friedrich II, who granted them asylum in his lands.9,10
French continued to be the language in common use in Friedrichsdorf into the mid-19th century. But by then the effects of repeated inter-marriages within the small community had become apparent, and marriages with German-speaking members of the surrounding communities had become common.11
Pierre was a hatter in Friedrichsdorf.12,13
Pierre married Christiane Elisabethe Margerthe Stehter, daughter of Johann Wilhelm Stehter and Catharina Margaretha Bicker, on 23 Jun 1816 in Homburg, Hessen Homburg.5,6,7
Pierre and Christiane settled in Friedrichsdorf after their marriage.
Pierre died on 19 Dec 1864 at age 74.8 He was buried on 21 Dec 1864 in French Reformed Church, Friedrichsdorf, Hessen Homburg.4
