     John P. Dodd was born in 1853 in Rockbridge Co., Virginia.7,8,9
     He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Lexington Twp., Rockbridge Co., Virginia, in the household of his parents, Shelton Dodd and Mary L. Tinsley.22
     He moved to Ohio with his parents by 1880. He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Ross Twp., Greene Co., Ohio, in the household of his parents.5
     John married first Mary Lucy Bartly, daughter of Henry Allen Bartly and Jane Frances Deviney, on 1 Nov 1881 in Rockbridge Co., Virginia, with Wesley Hammond officiating.10,11,12
     His wife died on 8 Jan 1892.23
     John married second Blanche B. Ginn on 30 Nov 1893 in Greene Co., Ohio, with Rev. A. Trueblood offciating.13,14
     John and Blanche appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Jamestown Twp., Greene Co., Ohio, enumerated 6 Jun 1900, reporting they owned their home, free of mortgage. Their daughter Mary was listed as living with them, as were his daughters by his prior marriage, Frances, Myrtle and Lemma.24
     His second wife died in 1902.25

     John and Dora appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Silver Creek Twp., Greene Co., Ohio, on Xenia Road, enumerated 2 Jan 1920, reporting they owned their home, free of mortgage. His daughter Mary was listed as living with them.33
     John and Dora appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Jamestown, Greene Co., Ohio, on Sycamore St., enumerated 18 Apr 1930, reporting they owned a home valued at $2,000, and did not own a radio.34
     John left a will dated 28 Aug 1935 stating he was of Jamestown, Greene Co., Ohio, in which he directed that his just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon as found convenient. He left to his third wife, for her lifetime, his half interest in their residence on the west side of South Sycamore St., the other half interest being owned by her. At her death his half interest to be divided equally between his four daughters. All the household goods were to go to his wife. All the rest of is estate, real and personal, was to be sold, and together with any money invested in government bonds. The income from them to go to his wife for her support, and if not sufficient she had the right to use them for support. At her death the remainder of his estate was to be divided equally between his four daughters. He appointed his daughter Lemma and son-in-law Melvin C. Smith, husband of his daughter Frances as executors.35
     John died on 15 Sep 1937 in Jamestown, Greene Co., Ohio, at his home.18,19 He was buried on 18 Sep 1937 in Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown, Greene Co., Ohio.20,21
     His will was proved on 28 Sep 1937 in Greene Co. Probate Court.36
