Henry married Virginia Andrew Britton, daughter of Andrew Jackson Britton and Elizabeth Jane Buster, on 5 Nov 1890 in Lynchburg, Virginia

Edward died in 1897. Henry incorporated the business as Allen Brothers Tobacco Company 12 Oct 1897, with himself as president and his older brother William as vice-president. Their father was manager of the business until his death in 1900.16,17,18

By 1907 Henry had abandoned the tobacco business and had become vice-president of the Virginia Laundry Co. By 1913 he was also vice-president of Crutchfield Dry Cleaning and Dye Works. He continued to hold both positions for many years.20,21,22,23,24

He continued to hold both titles the rest of his life, reporting in 1940 he had worked 36 hours the last week of March, and 52 weeks the prior year, earning $5,000.29,30,31,24
