Narrative:
Christian Gann was born about 27 Feb 1805 in Pennsylvania.4,5,6Christian married first Annie E. Cummings.7
Christian appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Hartley Twp., Union Co., Pennsylvania, with a household consisting of two males under age 5 (sons Christian and William), one age 5 to 10 (John), and one age 30 to 40 (himself), one female under age 5 (daughter Catharine), one age 15 to 20 (unknown), and one age 30 to 40 (his first wife.)1
His wife died about 1846.14
Christian married second Ann Elizabeth Laney, daughter of John Laney and Catherine Housel, about 1848.8,9,10
Christian and Ann appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Hartley Twp., Union Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 9 Aug 1850, reporting real estate valued at $600. Their son George and his children by his prior marriage, John, Catharine, Christian, William and Mary, were listed as living with him.2
He was a shoemaker until at least 1850, and a farmer by 1855.15,16,17,18
Christian and Ann appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Hartley Twp., Union Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 13 Jun 1860, reporting real estate valued at $2,000 and personal estate of $494. Their children George, Anne and Harriet and his children Catharine, Christian, William and Mary were listed as living with him.19
Christian and Ann moved to Missouri about 1865.20
Christian left a will dated 15 Jan 1868 stating he was of Andrew Co., Missouri, in which he named his son John and D. H. Laney as executors. He left two parcels of land in Andrew Co., one of 80 acres and the other of 39, to his wife. He also left her the proceeds of the sale of land he held in Pennsylvania, and all his personal property. All this was to be hers as long as she remained his widow, after which $300 would become her property and the rest divided among his children, John, Catharine, Christian, Mary, George, Anne and Harriet.3
Christian died on 3 Mar 1868.11,12 He was buried in Savannah Cemetery, Savannah, Andrew Co., Missouri.13
His will was proved on 7 Mar 1868 in Savannah, Missouri.3 Letters Testamentary were issued to his executors 21 Mar 1868 after they made a bond for $7,000.21
