     John William Weidman was born on 24 Nov 1900 in Berkeley Co., West Virginia.7,8,9
     He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Berkeley Co., West Virginia, in the household of his parents, Fredrick G. Weidman and Samantha Kisner.4
     John married Odessa L. Flora, daughter of Edward K. Flora and Mary Arizona Wellen, on 24 Dec 1921 in Martinsburg, West Virginia, after obtaining permission from her step-grandmother since she was a minor, with Frank Steelman officiating.10,11
     John and Odessa L. Flora lived at 212 N. High, Martinsburg, for a time after their marriage.12 They appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Berkeley Co., West Virginia, enumerated 21 Apr 1930, reporting they were renting their home, for $7 per month. Their children William, Donald, Charles, Phyllis and Helen were listed as living with them.13
     He was a weaver in a mill when he married, and a machinist for Interwoven Mills by 1922. By 1930 he was a laborer in an orchard. By 1934 he was a farmer, on the H. S. Miller farm near Darksville.14,15,16,17
     On 1 Jul 1934 he hitched a pair of young horses to a binder and began harvesting his crop. He was riding astride one of the horses with his younger brother Lemuel on the binder seat. A low-flying airplane spooked the horses, who bolted. John was thrown off the horse and run over by the binder. He died later that day of his injuries.18,5
     John died on 1 Jul 1934 in Martinsburg, Berkeley Co., West Virginia, at age 33.3 He was buried on 4 Jul 1934 in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg, Berkeley Co., West Virginia.3
