     Alvis married Annie Elizabeth Calhoun, daughter of Roderick P. Calhoun and Janett F. Flora, on 29 Sep 1869 in Pittsylvania Co., Virginia.11,12,13
     Alvis and Annie appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Ruffin, Rockingham Co., North Carolina, enumerated 21 Jun 1870, reporting no real estate, but that she had personal property of $435.16
     Alvis appeared and Annie appeared with their children William, Alvis and Sara on the 1880 Federal Census of Oregonville Twp., now Ruffin Twp., Rockingham Co., North Carolina, in the household of his mother.17
