Richard Schooler Hooton was born about 1870 in Pottawattamie Co., Iowa.7,8,9 He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa, in the household of his mother, Martha A. Schooler.4 He appeared on the 1885 State Census of Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa, in the household of his mother.15Richard married first Cora E. Huffman, daughter of Isiah Huffman and Samantha Darrel, on 8 Dec 1894 in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa.2,10
Richard and Cora appeared on the 1895 State Census of Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa. Her mother, Samantha Darrel, was listed as living with them.16
Richard appeared on the 1905 State Census of Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa, at 106 Main St., reporting that he did not own his home.17
Richard married second Minnie Belle Howard, daughter of Francis Thomas Howard and Mary Elizabeth [surname unknown], on 23 Sep 1907 in Pottawattamie Co., Iowa.11,12,13
