     Robert Moseley Turnley was born on 9 Jan 1891 in Clarksville, Tennessee.10,11,12
     He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Clarksville, Montgomery Co., Tennessee, in the household of his parents, Edward P. Turnley and Willie L. Gollayday.4 He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Montgomery Co., Tennessee, in the household of his parents.5
     Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army on 6 Jul 1911, at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. He served as a private in Co. M, 8th Infantry until he was discharged 20 Jun 1914.23
     He departed the U. S. 27 Jan 1916 for Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to work as a salesman. He remained there until at least 7 Jan 1917, when he registered with the consulate there asserting his intention to return at an unspecified future date.6
     Robert registered for the draft for World War I on 5 Jun 1917, while living at 626 Madison, Clarksville, Tennessee, reporting he was not employed.2 He enlisted again on 25 Feb 1918, at Clarksville, Tennessee. He served as a private in Signal Corps until he was discharged at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, on 27 Jun 1918.23
     Robert married first Elizabeth Madora Martin, daughter of Bradley Anthony Martin and Etha Jones, on 15 Sep 1919 in Crittenden Co., Arkansas, with N. A. McGee, justice of the peace, officiating.13,14
     Robert and Elizabeth appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Memphis, Shelby Co., Tennessee, at 148 Linden, enumerated 12 Jan 1920, lodging at the rooming house of Euva Mills, with her four children and four other lodgers.24
     Robert and Elizabeth were divorced before Nov 1925.15,16
     Robert married second Anna Maria Williams, daughter of Robert Henry Williams and Virginia D. Cobb, on 25 Nov 1925 in Hollywood, Los Angeles Co., California, with Rev. S. J. Mathieson of the Christian Church officiating.17
     He was an automobile mechanic in 1920, and involved with transportation in the motion picture industry by 1930, apparently as a mechanic.25,26,27
     Robert and Anna were apparently separated by 1930. She is listed in the 1930 census living alone, shown as married, while he was living with his mother, shown as divorced. At his death his belongings were sent to her, but his sister accompanied his remains back to Clarksville and Anna was not listed as one of his survivors in his obituary.28,29,30,31
     He appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California, in the household of his mother, Willie L. Gollayday.9
     He was admitted to the Homes for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Los Angeles on 1 Mar 1932. He died there three months later.23
     Robert died on 11 Jun 1932 in Los Angeles Co., California, at age 41.18,19,20 He was buried on 18 Jun 1932 in Greenwood Cemetery, Clarksville, Montgomery Co., Tennessee.21,22
