     Oliva F. Mims was born on 26 Jan 1877 in Arkansas.7,8,9
     Her mother died between 1877 and 1880, when Oliva was an infant.18 Years later she told the story of how she was carried on horseback by her grandmother for two days after her mother's death.19
     She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Clark Twp., Logan Co., Arkansas, in the household of her father, Davis R. Mims.20
     Oliva appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Little Rock, Pulaski Co., Arkansas, at 1907 Cumberland St., enumerated 8 Jun 1900, as a servant in the household of Robert and Sarah Malone and their family.21
     Oliva married James S. Miller, son of Isaac Miller and Mary M. Hathaway, on 24 Feb 1907 in Kansas City, Wyandotte Co., Kansas.10,11,12
     Oliva and James settled in Iowa after their marriage. They appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Jefferson Twp., Taylor Co., Iowa, enumerated 22 Apr 1910, reporting they were renting their home.22
     They moved to Ringgold Co. by 1920. Oliva and James appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Clinton Twp., Ringgold Co., Iowa, enumerated 20 Jan 1920, reporting they were renting their home. His mother was listed as living with them.23 They appeared on the 1925 State Census of Redding, Ringgold Co., Iowa, reporting that they owned a home valued at $1,200, free of mortgage, and carried $800 in insurance on it.5
     They appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Redding, Ringgold Co., Iowa, on Central St., enumerated 5 Apr 1930, reporting that they owned a home valued at $2,500 and owned a radio. Ramona Lynch, a cook in a restaurant, was listed as living with them as a lodger.24
     Oliva and James appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Redding, Ringgold Co., Iowa, enumerated 22 Apr 1940, reporting that they owned a home valued at $2,000 and had lived in the same house in 1935.25
     She and her husband operated a cafe in Redding for many years. She was chief cook. She said when the price of hamburgers went from a nickel to a dime she thought she would become a millionaire.19,26
     Her husband died in 1963.27
     Oliva died on 18 Sep 1974 in Mt. Ayr, Ringgold Co., Iowa, at age 97.13,14,15 She was buried on 20 Sep 1974 in Redding Cemetery, Redding, Ringgold Co., Iowa.16,17
