Amos Ropp was born in 1852 in Illinois.6,7,8 He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Elk Grove Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents, Joseph Ropp and Catherine [surname unknown].1 He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Elk Grove Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, in the household of his father.1Amos married Mary Kennel, daughter of Jacob Kennel and Catherine Gerber, on 8 Mar 1877 in Tazewell Co., Illinois.9,10,11
Amos and Mary appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Morton Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, enumerated 3 Jun 1880. Their children Ida and Joseph were listed as living with them, as were two farm laborer, identified as servants, John Munson, age 18, from Denmark, and George Stitsly, age 60, from Sweden.13
He was a farmer.13
Amos died in 1886.8 He was buried in Glendale Cemetery, Washington, Tazewell Co., Illinois, with a tombstone which also has the names of his wife and her second husband.12
