     Alfred George Atkins was born on 6 Jan 1844 in Brooklyn, New York.6,7,8
     He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York, in the household of his parents, Joseph Atkins and Elizabeth Nixon.15 He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York, in the household of his parents.16
     His father died on 28 Mar 1864, when Alfred was 20 years old.17
     He appeared on the 1875 State Census of Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York, enumerated 2 Jun 1875, with his mother and sister Celia, in the household of his sister Mary and her husband, Arthur Kute.18
     Alfred married Grace Remington, daughter of Rev. Elkanah Franklyn Remington and Mary Elizabeth Hannibal, on 28 May 1878 in Church of the Redeemer, Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York, with the bride's father officiating.9,10,11
     Alfred and Grace moved to New Jersey by 1880. They appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of West Orange, Essex Co., New Jersey, on Prospect Ave., enumerated 4 Jun 1880., Mary Sullivan, age 23, a domestic from Ireland, is listed as also living in the household.19
     Alfred and Grace returned to New York by 1892. They appeared on the 1892 State Census of Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York. A 25-year old Irish servant, Maggie Blaney, was also listed in the household.20
     He was a farmer in New Jersey, and in the milk business in Brooklyn.21,22
     Alfred and Grace have not been found in the 1900, though they were apparently living in Brooklyn.
     His wife died on 1 Aug 1904 in Essex, New York.23,24,25
     Alfred died on 30 Oct 1907 in Westfield, New Jersey, at age 63.12,8 He was buried on 1 Nov 1907 in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, New York, in a family plot.13,14
