     Ella Cobb was born on 4 Oct 1814 in Pennsylvania.6,7,8
     She moved down the Ohio River by flatboat to Dearborn Co., Indiana, with her parents in 1818.13,14,15 She was probably one of the two females under age 10 listed in the household of her father in the 1820 Federal Census of Laughery, Dearborn Co., Indiana.16
     She moved to Decatur Co. in 1821 with her parents.17,18,19 She was probably the female age 10 to 15 listed in the household of her father in the 1830 Federal Census of Decatur Co., Indiana, thought she was actually 16 at the time.20 She was probably the female age 20 to 30 listed in the household of her father, Joshua Cobb, in the 1840 Federal Census of Decatur Co., Indiana.21
     Ella married John Hamilton Elder, son of James Elder, and first cousin of the man her niece Sophronia Cobb would marry 26 years later, on 17 Feb 1842 in Decatur Co., Indiana, with Daniel Stogsdell offciating.9,10
     Ella and John appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Marion Twp., Decatur Co., Indiana, enumerated 25 Oct 1850, reporting real estate valued at $2,000. Their children Dyer, James, John and Mary were listed as living with them.22
     Ella and John appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Marion Twp., Decatur Co., Indiana, enumerated 6 Aug 1860, reporting real estate valued at $5,300 and personal estate of $1,500. Their children Dyer, James, John and Mary were listed as living with them.23
     She and John appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Newpoint, Decatur Co., Indiana, enumerated 22 Jun 1870, reporting real estate valued at $6,800 and personal estate of $1,100. Their son James was listed as living with them, as was Alice Oren, age 15, who may have been an unknown relative, or a servant.24
     Her husband died on 9 Jan 1876.25,26
     Ella appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Decatur Co., Indiana, in the household of her daughter Mary and her husband, Perry Simeon Tremain. Her son James as also listed in the household.27
     Ella died on 7 Mar 1884 at age 69.8 She was buried in Sand Creek Cemetery, Greensburg, Indiana, in the oldest section, in a row with Joshua and Nancy's other children.11,12
