Narrative:
Simeon Edgerton was born on 9 Mar 1731/32 in Norwich, New London Co., Connecticut.3,4,5 He was baptized on 12 Mar 1731/32 in First Congregational Church, Norwich, New London Co., Connecticut.11Simeon married Abiah Hough, daughter of John Hough and Hannah Denison, on 23 Nov 1758 in Norwich, Connecticut.6,7
Simeon was a Captain in the 12th Regiment for the state of Connecticut and served actively during the Revolution. He was present at the capture of New London and the massacre of Fort Griswold.12
Simeon bought two parcels totaling 300 acres in Pawlet from Jonathan Willard, husband of his wife's sister, on 11 Nov 1779, for £100.13
Simeon and Abiah Hough moved from Norwich Connecticut to Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont, by 1781, settling on land he had purchased there on 11 Nov 1779.14,15,16
On 16 Apr 1803 Simeon was appointed guardian of Jonathan Willard, who had been found to be of unsound mind and not capable of taking care of himself. With Capt. Willard Cobb as surety, he posted a bond of $1,000.17
Simeon died on 27 Aug 1809 in Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont, at age 77.7,8,9 He was buried in Mettowee Valley Cemetery, now known as the Old Pawlet Cemetery, Pawlet, Vermont.10
