     Gustav Frederick Gapsch was born on 14 May 1865 in Leipzig, Königreich Sachsen.6,7,8
     He arrived in New York with his parents, Edward W. Gapsch and Sophie Herfurt, on 23 Mar 1881, on the steamship Weser, having departed from the port of Bremen. They were shown on the passenger list as from Saxony, with a stated destination of St. Louis, and having traveled in steerage class.17,18,19
     Gustav married Ceres Barrioz, daughter of Philibert Barrioz and Marie Clement, about 1890.9,10,11
     Gustav was naturalized on 2 Oct 1896 in St. Louis, Missouri.20,21,22
     Gustav and Ceres appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of St. Louis, Missouri, at 5889 Pernod Ave., enumerated 21 Jun 1900, reporting the family was renting its home. Their children Virginia and Gustava were listed as living with them, as was Andrew Whitmare, a 13-year old garden laborer listed as a boarder, likely a helper on the farm.2
     Gustav and Ceres appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Carondelet Twp., St. Louis Co., Missouri, enumerated 6 May 1910, reporting that the family owned their farm, free of mortgage. Their children Virginia and Gustava were listed as living with them.23
     Gustav and Ceres appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of St. Louis, Missouri, at 3112 Cherokee St., enumerated 5 Jan 1920. Their daughter Gustava was listed as living with them.24
     Gustav and Ceres appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of St. Louis, Missouri, at 3840 Gravois Ave., enumerated 12 Apr 1930, reporting that the family had a radio set, and owned a home valued at $10,000.25
     Gustav and Ceres appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of St. Louis, Missouri, at 3840 Gravois Ave., enumerated 13 Apr 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $3,000, and had lived in the same house in 1935.26
     He was a gardener, on his own truck farm by 1910, becoming a fireman working in city sanitation by 1920, and by 1930 had become a motorbus mechanic.27,28,29,30,31 He was a laborer for a street railway company in 1940, when he reported he had worked 40 hours the last week of March, and had worked 52 weeks the prior year, earning $1,300.26
     His wife died on 10 Aug 1954 in Dallas, Dallas Co., Texas.32,33
     Gustav was living in 1142 Tarpley, Dallas, Texas, at the time of his death.3
     Gustav died on 15 Mar 1960 in Dallas, Dallas Co., Texas, at age 94.12,13,14 He was buried on 19 Mar 1960 in New St. Marcus Cemetery, St. Louis Co., Missouri.15,16
